This Louis Kamper- designed skyscraper is actually two buildings, the Book Building, built in 1914 and the Book Tower, which was added in 1926. As with many skyscrapers in the 1980s and 90s, it fell onto hard times and closed in 2009. Even though it was always under ownership, it sat vacant until Dan Gilbert purchased it in 2015. It is currently under renovation.
