Hello and welcome to another client story, this time with the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy (they are responsible for managing the RiverWalk and the Dequindre Cut Greenway) where I was asked to fly my drone and capture fall images along the Dequindre Cut as well as a shot of the Cullen Plaza with people enjoying the spaces.

I  made two trips to the Cut where one day there were some interesting clouds, and then a Saturday where there were more people out and about using the Cut. Both days were cool, brisk fall days and I was happy to have caught the Cut with fall color still happening. There was a bit of wind between the two days I went to shoot so I was crossing my fingers that the leaves would still be there when I returned.


This view is of the beginning of the Cut down at the waterfront at Atwater Street and stretches all the way to Mack Ave. You will notice the DNR Outdoor Discovery Center building there on the left, which they asked to have included in the image if possible. Of course it is! Anyway, it used to be the Globe Trading Company, visit my gallery to see what it used to look like.

They asked me to "use my creativity" when getting some different vantage points of the Cut. I wanted to both get some of the bridges across the walkway, as well as incorporate St. Joseph's Oratory (whose steeple you can see there to the left).

I also wanted to get more of a bird's eye view of the Cut to get a sense of the surrounding area. You can see Eastern Market buildings in the immediate background, a few other church steeples and even the Fisher Building way back there on the left hand side!

The last image in the group is of Cullen Plaza capturing people riding their bike, walking their dog, and generally hanging out at the Riverfront. It was a cooler windy day so I was happy to find people spending time there, even in those conditions (the sun did help though!).
